February 2017 Help Save the Honomu Park WWII Banyan Trees!
The two majestic Weeping Figs (Ficus benjamina) at Honomu Park need your help! Due to maintenance concerns, Hawaii County is proposing to remove these two trees that are an iconic and historic part of the Honomu community. Beloved by locals and visitors alike, these trees were planted as a memorial to community members lost during World War II and are two of the best specimens in Hawaii.
